Those were the best days of my life

Its been a while, I stopped writing, for all I could do was to pity myself for all my previous immaturish posts, using gibberish & crude language. I dont want to sound humble, but this could very much be my first sincere & serious effort. My inspiration being, one of my newest friends, who herself recently started writing. There is so much I would like to express, about my college, family, friends, cisco, bangalore...the list goes on endlessly. Other things can follow later, but I would like to dedicate this post to all my college(bits-pilani) friends, for its long overdue, with whom I have shared the best phase of my life.
An average looking tall, slim & shy boy from Mumbai I was, whose life revolved around his school & family. I was like a frog in a well, for whom the outside world ceased to exist. When the realization finally struck me, I made up my mind, that I need to move out of my comfort zone, my home, family & Mumbai, which I still believe is the best place to live in the world. It came in the form of the day I got admitted into BITS-Pilani, which I can undoubtedly say, has to be the happiest day of my life.
All throughout my 4 years in BITS, I made some of my closest & life-long friends Arjit Chandra, Raghav Gupta, Vishal Vejani, Akshay Shastri, Neeraj Trikha, Pushp Saurav, Mrityunjay Kumar, Shashank Sharma, Vikalp Bharadwaj, Aditya Goel, Adarsh Singh, Chinmay Jain, Mayank Agrawal, Rajesh Kamath, Ashirvad Singh, Yashaswi Verma & all others who made significant impact on my life. Call it my willpower or my disregard for family(I do love my family a lot), I can shamelessly say, there hasn't been a single day all throughout my college, I have felt homesick.Period
Even while writing this post, I can feel the goosebumps for it reminds me of all the golden time Bosm, Oasis, Apogee, Anc, Sky, C'nott, Ganga, Redis, PD, Birthdays, Night-outs, Grubs, Dota, 29, Music night & a million other things for these events are etched in my memory forever. Life in bits has been a emotional rollercoaster with academic highs & lows, extreme climatic conditions, but you guys made it all not just bearable but also significantly memorable.Thank you guys, for helping me develop as an individual, changing my perspective of life & being there to overlook my numerous mistakes & guiding me all through.
All great things come to an end, & this one was no alien. We all went our respective paths, in different corners of the world not knowing what fate has in store for us. Today, when I look back as to what I have, I see the smiling faces of all my friends waving at me unbounded by space & time, who constantly keep on giving me motivation & act as a silver lining in times of distress & grief. I believe, Life comes a full circle & their will come a time, when we shall meet again. Dedicated to all my friends who made life worth-living.
Cheers,
Bhupesh

(Not) so long ago...

Hey guys,

Its been ages since my last post...after the critical acclaim for my last post(:P:P)...I just dint get to write anything interesting....although i had plenty of stuff to share. Anyways...i'm back with some of my experiences.

Lemme begin with the much-hyped, much-talked about the latest Mac Book Pro I got from Yahoo! It all started when jokingly I asked my manager if I could get a Mac to work on.... & he agreed (kool aah??).
I applied for the Mac & they told me that it will take them another 6 months to give me one...& with this i got to exercise my negotiation skills :D...after pestering the IS department daily...they got so fed up of me...that i got a Mac in flat 11 days...which according to my collegues is by far the fastest time....immediately i was flooded by hate mails from friends(:D:D)...& guess what... my manager is still struggling to get 1 ( he applied 4 months back).

Mac was not the only (so called) success story of my internship....for i also had an 3 day Ooty trip with my team...which was among the best outings i had....22 people, a mini-bus, Taj Hotel, lots of stories & dumshrats, cricket & football, booze & bonfire etc....an awsome opportunity to bond with my team members.

Now the latest updates...For the past few weeks, my weekends are pretty happening...for I've been staying at my friend Aditya's place for the weekend (which has now become a daily affair ) where there are an exclusive rare species of humans (semi-gults, nerds, wearwolves, babes, cook & doods) & i just love that place for all the fun we all have while playing cricket , pool & CS
(so what if i suck at all these games? )

After keeping on postponing the Wonderla (theme park) trip week after week....finally we visited the place....& it was worth the wait for all the masti & mazza we had.

Our last trip had been to Bandipur national park...& it was aahhh... soo superb. Although it was just a 2 day outing... we had loads of fun...9 guys, 1 cab, night safari & fishing, camping & bonfires, mafia & antakshris, etc (despite the fact that the lodgewala, rickshawala, cabwala, thanedar & even monkeys gave us a harrowing time) On our return trip ...we visited the Mysore palace & the Vrindavan Gardens....& by night fall we were back.

Since there was so much to write...I had to cram up things. Anyways, before i wrap up, a special mention for my roommate who has finally got some work in office & big thanks to other 6 pseudo flatmates of mine for all the fun we have.

Regards,
(lolzz..)

PS: All the characters described above are real and any similarities found are purely intentional.

Fluenzaaa....

hello friends!!

With all the +ve feedback and comments from u all guys for my 1st post...i just got so excited , that i'm ready with my next..as i promised...on a more serious topic...

Swine flu has been hogging headlines day after day...with new cases & deaths being reported everyday....i'm not very sure if our concerned authorities who claim "nothing to worry for all is in control"(what shit??)...have started circulars through newspapers or media to educate people abt swine flu..for frankly, i havent come across ne such stuff....so what better topic i may get to write on...

some keynotes..
  • i have done a lot of research through net, wiki, televisions & newspapers...before writing down nethin...but still it may be possible that some of content is incorrect...so plzz don't sue me !!
  • i wont go into much technical details of the disease or its history...just about its aftermath.. & will try to ensure dat i cover most of the general points...but plzz remember...dis is just my take on disease..dont rely too much on me
  • Finally...by the time u read dis post...some of the details could be outdated....for the virus is spreading by leaps n bounds...

Swine flu is a global outbreak of a new strain of influenza virus, officially named the "new H1N1", first identified in April 2009. it is not yet clear as to how the virus originated....It is thought to be a mutation of four known strains of the influenza A virus, subtype H1N1: one endemic in (normally infecting) humans, one endemic in birds, and two endemic in pigs (swine). Swine flu is an air-borne infection.

The outbreak began in Mexico, with evidence that Mexico was already in the midst of an epidemic for months before the outbreak was recognized. Till then it was too late...for the virus had spread globally and the WHO declared it a worldwide pandemic. The first swine flu case in India was confirmed somewhere in mid-may in Hyderabad.... by the end of June..there were hardly 15-20 infected patients in India. But the virus could not be contained...for it was inevitable

The no. of infected persons is exponentially growing...& so far their are around 900 confirmed cases in India(with pune & mumbai being the worst affected), 6 deaths...thousands of people suspected to have the virus...& millions of panic-stricken people getting themselves checked at various public hospitals across the country...With no vaccine yet found...looking at these figures...tackling swine flu has become the single most important task & it should be in no way taken lightly...Influenza can lead to pneumonia(if no taken proper medical care) that can prove fatal...In no way i mean to create panic among u guys...but dats the grim reality... :(

There are only 2 drugs effective against the virus, Tamiflu and Relenza. These drugs come at a high price with around 1900 bucks for 10 tablets(available only at certain public hospitals) Government has also been importing the WHO approved N-95 masks for preventing spread of the virus...but they are in tremendous shortage...so goons are making quick bucks by black-marketing these drugs & masks (even d regular ones).

Although their are no proven vaccines yet discovered, here are some of the most basic things one must keep in mind for tackling swine flu:

How can i avoid getting the flu?
  • avoid touching your mouth and nose or other potentially contaminated places.
  • keep washing ur hands with soap on a very regular basis
  • avoid crowded places as much as possible..dat means no more weekend trips to clubs, malls or theatres....for u never know..d guy next to u might be a carrier of the virus.
  • avoid contact with sick people...and if u cant ...plzz use an N-95 mask..and if u cant get ur hands even on regular masks ( for masks are in tremendous shortage)..use handkerchiefs (i'm dead sure..they are available in plenty)....in fact i will advice you to wear masks whenever you are out of ur homes.
  • Have plenty of liquids & healthy food...no outside food
  • Take great care of toddlers & elder people for they are more susceptible to this virus & the outcome could be severe in thier case becoz of thier low immunity.
How do i know if i have the flu?

naah...u cant tell whether u have d swine flu...for their symptoms are very similar to the seasonal flu...typical symptoms being...fever, sneezes, sore throat, cough, fatigueness, headache, body pain etc. Only a doctor can confirm if you r infected.

What to do in case i have the illness?

If u have any of the above symptoms...immediate refer to a doctor...strictly stay away from people, work, public places for it is highly contagious....take rest and have plenty of fluids...take great care of ur personal hygiene...wear masks 24/7...do not take any antiviral drug without the doctors prescription...it may aggravate the situation & most importantly do not panic...for most cases are mild & definetly not deadly. The infection can be cured by proper medical care if diagnosed in its early stages.

Although it is too late for containment...we can work towards mitigating the effects of the virus. It is not just the duty of authorities, but us all to prevent the spread of this disease...Remember, it is just like any other seasonal flu...one must take all the precautions but at the same time not panic for hopefully by the end of this year..we will have proper vaccines & drugs...

Take care all!!

Cheers,
Bhupesh

hello everyone!!

Finally...fed up of the days of boredom @ Bangalore ...i'm writing my 1st post, after gettin inspiration from my dear friend ashi.... Before i begin, lemme clear a few points (which should make up for most of my post :D) :

1. plzz do not expect nethin creative from me..for i'm as dull and uninnovative as you guys are :P
2. plzz excuse me for my language may offend some of my readers...(i hope dis makes up for my 1st point) and
3. i'm neither good nor even an average writer...so kindly overlook all my numerous grammatical errors & senseless lines...(which i guess will cover for all my points)
4. Lastly... a sincere apology to all my friends, for they may feel..OMFG..what crap?

to bein with (and also to end with it..for dats d only stuff i got to say)..lemme give u all a brief insight of my life in Bangalore...

This place is super-awesome for its salubrious climate unlike our tradational inhabitable Pilani or hot n humid Bombay....but i'm missing monsoon for it has hardly rained so far...
i will take time to get adjusted to dis place with narrow roads & huge traffic jams...extremely mediocre food & the looting rickshawalas...
there are numerous tourist spots & lakes (of which i have visited none...thanks to my lazy roomy)...
Yahoo! is where i work (did i say work???).... actually, its d place where i play...TT, pool, foosball (addicted)...with a supercool 500kbs download speed (which i mostly use for watching youtube videos & downloading stuff)...state of art gym...personal phone(with std)... very friendly colleagues...and loads of stuff & chocalates to eat...On a serious note, although i have started lerning a few softwares & languages...i havent got ne concrete work yet.
Now, to fulfill my insatiable desires for my 1st love DOTA...i started downloading replays & videos & looking for gaming cafes in bangalore...and after a week long search... i visited my 1st gaming cafe @ Zapak, Kormangala...and so far i have been there only 3 times as it is not possible to regularly keep visiting cafe coz it is far n costly.

Inspite of all this, life was stilll dull n boring ( with 'Rakhi ka Swayamvar' as d only entertainment...aur woh bhi salla khatam ho gaya), i wanted to venture to new things like writing....and what better topic than DOTA can i get...so, taking idea from prashant, i did start a thread on gmail on dota@bits....which got brilliant response initially...but later died out....( and thus leading me to blogging)

Before i conclude, a kind request..plzz start using yahoo search(its really cool...dump google)for dats d least i can do for this organization.
I dont have nethin much left to say...will definetly try to post something more meaningful & concrete very soon....all ur suggestions, ideas, comments, criticism..blah blah..are welcome.

Cheers,
Bhupesh

PS: i would like to acknowledge my close friend Arjit for suggesting me a name for the title
